The second best thing about this Free Company is events and doing content together, running events together a few times a week in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere is great.
I spend a lot of time thinking about what events we can do, and how we can make them better, and I think putting a couple of things in place to ensure that we run as many events as we can, that they start on time and we don't have people logging on, waiting for half an hour and then finding that the event is off.
With this in mind: Six hours before start time If there are four or fewer sign ups then the event will be cancelled. The event will be edited on the website to reflect this. If there are more than four sign ups, then we'll start reaching out to friends to see if they want to fill up the party. A good example of this was last night, when Solid and Craggs joined us for Zurvan. Yi is also someone who frequently comes and helps us. If you know someone who will definitely come along, please add a note to your response to the event.
One hour before event start time If, with friends, we still have six or fewer sign ups, then the event will be cancelled. If we have seven people, then the remaining place will be filled either from people in the free company that didn't sign up, or from Party Finder.
The idea is that we'll run more events, that we'll get them starting on time, and that there will be greater visibility about whether an event will actually go ahead.
It also means that you're doubly unlikely to come along to an event if you don't sign up. Not only does it increase the chance of the event getting cancelled, but if we've found someone else to come along, even if they aren't in the Free Company, then they will take your place in the party ahead of you. I hate turning people down from events, but I really think this is fairest. Sign up
